Good day with Eli

Bill and I decided to take the afternoon off and take Eli to see the new Pixar movie Cars. It was super cute and Eli had a great time. He was well behaved in the movie--may have helped that we had sprite, popcorn and junior mints, but I think he was really into the story as well. He asked lots of questions throughout. Afterward we had a nice time at IHOP, Eli's dinner of choice where he ate the usual smiley face pancake. After family stories he was up to bed...

Bill's recovering from his awful case of poison ivy. It has been nearly 3 weeks, but I think it is all finally subsiding.

We are looking forward to our trip to Houston this weekend. Dad's 60th, seeing Erin and new baby Jack, Kettle family time etc. Hopefully it will also be some good Dad's day time.

Great Weekend

So, as you can tell, I have not been very good about updating this blog on a regular basis. Now that the summer is slow, I will try again.

We had a busy, but great weekend at our home.

On Friday I took the day off to get ready for a charity scrapday that I hosted in my home for Community Montessori School. It was nice to have the day to myself and although there was no rest or relaxation, it was a wonderful day. Gay, my dearest friend, and two of her friends came in that evening and we swam with the kids and then set the house for the table. Although Gay and I had hoped to get more done, I could tell she was exhausted (and so was I!)...so we were off to bed.

The crop was wonderful and everyone seemed to have a good time. We had good food, a wonderful massuse and lots of scrapping was accomplished...a few techniques were taught and lots of funny stories were told. We scrapped until close to 11 and then did some clean-up around the house. It was a success and lots o money raised for CMS. I will volunteer to do this again in the future.

Sunday we took Sav to Brenham for her special week with Nona and Papa. We came back home to finish cleaning the house and then had a great swim with Eli in the pool before dinner, special Eli games (crainum hullabaloo and one other) and then 7 stories! After a small incident with a bottle of children's allergy medicine, we got Eli down for the night and Bill and I watched Glory Road (good). We are looking forward to a good week with Eli and giving him some special time.

Sunday--

I'm at the office reading files for admission committee. One of my secondary responsibilities is to read files of those students on the "bubble"

This is a part of my job that is hard, not difficult, but often emotional. Making decisions on the college lives of some of these students does not always feel good. At the same time, there are lots of colleges across the country doing the same thing, so I know I am not the only one who has to do this or grapples with the emotional aspect that is associated with these decisions.

My first attempt at a Blog!

I've never been particularly good at a diary, so I am not sure what makes me think this will work any better. I am going to try and do this daily so that I can keep track of our lives, but also the small, simple things that sometimes get lost in the daily shuffle.

Here's a brief introduction of the gang:
